Definitions and Key Terms
To help explain things as clearly as possible in this Service Cancellation, Refunds, & Chargebacks Policy, every time any of these terms are referenced, are strictly defines as:
- Company: when this policy mentions “Company,” “we,” or “our,” it refers to Author's Tranquility Press, 3900 N Commerce Dr. Suite 300 #1255 Atlanta, GA 30344 that is responsible for your information under this Service Cancellation, Refunds, & Chargebacks Policy.
- Cancellation: Termination of your service agreement with Author's Tranquility Press before the service is completed.
- Refund: Repayment of a portion or all the service fee you paid, following our cancellation policy.
- Chargeback: A reversal of a payment made to us by your bank, typically initiated by the cardholder.
- Processing Fee: A non-refundable fee deducted from your refund to cover administrative costs associated with processing your payment and cancellation request.
- Fulfillment of Service: The point at which we begin working on your project. This can be signified by either your submission of the author questionnaire or the commencement of work by us or a contractor we engage for your service.
- Manuscript Submission/Print Copy Submission: Providing your written content (manuscript) or a physical copy of your book for scanning and inclusion in your project.
- Final Approval: Your official sign-off on the project deliverables, indicating your satisfaction with the service.
Service Cancellation & Refunds
- Cancellation Before Production Begins: You can cancel your service and receive a full refund (minus a $150 processing fee or 10% of the purchase price, whichever is greater) within 30 days of purchase if production for your project hasn't begun.
- Cancellation After Production Begins: Refunds will depend on the stage of the project when you cancel. Here's a breakdown:
- Publishing Packages:
- Before Manuscript Submission: You'll receive a 100% refund minus the processing fee within 60 days of purchase. After 60 days, no refunds will be available.
- After Manuscript Submission/Print Copy Submission (but Before Approval):
- Before Design Work Begins: 50% refund.
- After Design Work Begins but Before Final Approval: 25% refund.
- After Final Approval: No refunds will be issued.
- Individual Services (not included in a Publishing Package):
- Before Service Fulfillment Begins: You'll receive a 100% refund minus the processing fee within 30 days of purchase. After 60 days, no refunds will be available.
- After Service Fulfillment Begins: No refunds will be issued.
- Publishing Packages:
Fulfillment of Service is Defined as:
- Submission of the author questionnaire (completed or not).
- When we or a contractor begin work on your service.
Important Notes:
- Submission of your manuscript/print copy for scanning signifies the official start of your project.
- Refunds may take up to 30 days to process.
Chargebacks
A chargeback occurs when your bank reverses a payment made to us. We charge a $75 fee for any unjustified chargebacks, such as claiming fraud or non-authorization after providing payment information to our Finance Department.
To Avoid Chargeback Fees:
- Contact us directly with any concerns before filing a chargeback.
- Wait 24 hours after signing the DocuSign agreement before filing a chargeback.
- Avoid filing a chargeback while your service fulfillment is ongoing (as defined earlier).
- Don't file a chargeback after receiving notification of service completion.
By agreeing to our terms, you acknowledge that we have the right to automatically recharge your card for the original service fee and the $75 chargeback fee if you violate our policy. We will notify you via email or phone call before any such action is taken.
Bounced Checks
A $40 service fee will be applied to any bounced checks received as payment.
Partial Payments & Cancellation
If you opt to pay 40% upfront and haven't settled the remaining balance upon cancellation, we reserve the right to forfeit all installments received.
Refund Usage
You can use your refund amount towards another service. If the new service is more expensive, you'll be responsible for the difference.
General Refund Conditions
- No refunds will be granted once the service has been substantially completed or fulfilled by Author's Tranquility Press.
- All cancellation requests are subject to a 30-day approval process.
- A simple change of mind is not a valid reason for cancellation, as our services are confirmed with the author or cardholder at the time of purchase.
